Bloomfall: Here, There & Elsewhere Quickstart
A downloadable quickstart
What is Bloomfall?
Bloomfall is a TTRPG commissioned by the National Academy of Sciences outreach and engagement group, LabX. Its primary goal is to address the phenomenon of Plant Blindness—a human tendency to overlook or underappreciate the importance of plants in our world.
Set on a mysterious fictional island off the eastern coast of the U.S. around the turn of the 20th century, Bloomfall combines elements of low magic, mystery, fantasy, and magical academia in a one-of-kind interactive storybook-style role-playing experience. The game is designed to be accessible for newcomers to TTRPGs, while also offering fresh and unique mechanics for seasoned TTRPG players. It requires a GM and 2-4 players to start playing.
BLOOMFALL features two RPG innovations:
- Highly structured, scene-based, 2-hour long, adventures perfect for busy game-masters or groups new to roleplaying games.
- Solo excursions: short, creative activities inspired by real-world nature that players undertake in their own time between sessions and which help build the game’s world and characters.
Disclaimer: This is the Quickstart edition of the game, featuring the basic rules, one adventure, and one solo excursion. By accessing the playtest materials here, you agree to the following: These materials are for playtesting purposes only and are not to be shared, dispersed, or disseminated outside of these purposes. The materials are not a final representation of the game and will continue to evolve during development.
